UCI Pikes Donate $1,000, Relay for Life 2007

Lambda Lambda had a strong showing at the 3rd annual Relay For Life charity event hosted by the American Cancer Society on April 28-29. The chapter had a busy weekend setting up and manning the most popular booth at this 24-hour event held in Aldrich Park. Specializing in lung cancer, our spring Iota class participated in and won numerous events including: Capture the Flag, Water Balloon Toss, Relay Idol, and Miss Relay.

These successes materialized in helping Pike win the Spirit Award for excellence in participation. Whether its playing a game of football, soccer, or baseball during the day; or throwing a lit-up frisbee and barbecuing burgers and hot-dogs in the evening, Pikes showed the UCI campus how to have fun while helping out the community, And on top of all this, a $1000 donation was made on our organizations behalf, helping the event raise over $50,000.

E-Waste Recycling - February 2007

In February the brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha hosted an electronic waste recycling program. They collected various items such as old computer monitors, printers, print cartridges, and more. All proceeds earned from this event will benefit a charitable cause.

If you or your business has old electronics that need to be disposed, feel free to contact us to arrange a free pickup. Our next E-Waste event will be held Saturday, March 3rd at the Sam's Clubs located in Irvine. Stop by and drop off all your old electronics.

First Annual Founder's Day Football

On Saturday March 4th, 2006 we hosted a Southern California Pike Football Tournament and Alumni BBQ. This event saw over 100 brothers from local Pike chapters. There were teams represented by UCI, UCSD, Chapman, Cal Poly Pomona and a UCI alumni team. Also in attendance were Chapman and UCI's Chapter Advisors, Adam Riffe and Bram Govaars, and President of the OC Alumni Association, Ron Hutzel.

Our now annual football tournament was a great time to celebrate the founding of our fraternity, and to further solidify our bonds as brothers. This event has brought the chapters that participated closer together, and has expanded the opportunity to have further joint events in the future. The event was such a success that it will become an annual tournament, with the winner taking possession of the trophy for the entire year. Next year there is projected to be over 250 brothers participating, and several more chapters added to the current teams that played this year.
