On Saturday July 28th, at Pike University's The Academy, the UC Irvine Lambda Lambda Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha was awarded with Pi Kappa Alpha's most prestigious honor, the Robert Adger Smythe Award. The Smythe award is given to the chapters of Pike that exemplify the values of the fraternity and dominate their respective campuses. The winners of this award are truly the best that Pi Kappa Alpha has to offer. Lambda Lambda was one of only 17 chapters that received this award internationally. With over 220 chapters, this puts Lambda Lambda in the top 7% of all Pike chapters.

Brothers Ryan Perlman, Kenny Lim, Brandon Williams, Mike Lopez and Scott Feuchter were on hand to receive not only this award but to also receive Lambda Lambda's second straight Chapter Excellence Award, the fourth straight 100% Phi Phi Kappa Alpha Participation Award for the entire chapter donating $20 to the Pi Kappa Alpha Educational Foundation, the 20/20 Recruitment Award given to the chapters that have increased their membership by 20% in the past year, and the runner up in the award for top finances in all of Pike. In the end Lambda Lambda was rewarded for their hard work and dedication to both the fraternity and their community, and we look forward to making the coming year even more successful.
On August 2nd through the 5th the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity held it's 65th International Convention at the Walt Disney World Hilton Hotel and Resort in Orlando, Florida. The Lambda Lambda chapter sent eight brothers, and came back with many prestigious recognitions.
All of the hard work that all the brothers of Pike worldwide put in during the whole year was celebrated and in the end Lambda Lambda was one of 37 chapters to receive a Chapter Excellence Award. Other recognition given to Lambda Lambda include 100% Phi Phi Kappa Alpha Educational Foundation donors, finalists for the Alumni Relations Award, and the Man Miles Award. The eight men from Lambda Lambda that attended traveled a combined total of 45,187 miles. Chapter Adviser Bram Govaars' dedication and passion for Lambda Lambda was also celebrated as he was recognized as being Pi Kappa Alpha's Alumni Adviser of the year.
A Pike University event would not be a Pike University event without the premier programming that puts Pi Kappa Alpha at the forefront of leadership training. Two of Lambda Lambda's brothers, Francis Tan and Andre Ramirez, were recognized for attending their fifth Pike University event. The leadership workshops taught each and every brother that attended, valuable skills that every Pi K A will be able to bring back to their respective chapters.
The next Pike U Leadership Summit will be held October 27-29 right down the street in Costa Mesa, CA. The 8 Lambda Lambda brothers that attended had the time of their lives in Florida, but most importantly they bonded with brothers and learned from each and every Pi K A that they interacted with. Each received top notch leadership training from very succesful CEOs, Laywers, and Entrepreuners from around our country.
