Pike Wins IFC Softball 2006

The Pikes ended off the 2005-2006 intramural sports season in style with a Softball championship. On June 7th the men of Pi Kappa Alpha defeated SAE by one run in a thrilling game that came down to the final at bat. In the bottom of the 7th inning SAE was down a single run and was threatening with bases loaded and one out. With a fly ball to make it two outs, the game came down to the final at bat. In most dramatic fashion the game ended on a sharp ground ball up the middle. Shortstop Kyle Sakai made the grab and flipped the ball to second baseman Chris Gutierrez to end the game.

All the hard work had paid off, the men of Pi Kappa Alpha became the champions of IFC softball. The intramural season was a success as Pike became the only fraternity to win a major sport in all three quarters (IFC Football in the fall, ALl-U Soccer in the Winter).
