Scholarship

PIKE Increases GPA to a 3.012 for Winter 2007!

College is a time to not only broaden your views of the world and build lifetime friendships, but also a time to expand your knowledge and prepare yourself to succeed in whatever you choose your future career to be. Lambda Lambda realizes this and we make sure that scholarship is a very important component of our chapter, and that we take it very seriously.

Most recently in Winter Quarter 2007, the Lambda Lambda chapter greatly increased its overall GPA to a 3.012 ranking the chapter 2nd place in all Fraternities on campus and 12th place amongst all Greek organizations. This also ranks above UC Irvine’s all-men’s, all-undergraduate, all-women’s, all-fraternity, all-IFC, all-Greek, all-Sorority, and all-Panhellenic grade point averages.

Our chapter offers group study hours bi-weekly to encourage brothers to work harder and seek assistance from each other, in order to earn a GPA that they will be proud of. At study hours the fraternity, through the scholarship chair’s budget, provides snacks for those who attend, which we have found to increase overall attendance, and this has been correlated with an increase in the chapter GPA.

The Lambda Lambda chapter gives the highest priority to academic excellence by providing scholastic programming and aid to all its members. Along with the study hours, another service our chapter extends to its members is the subsidization of LARC Tutoring for members falling below the required chapter GPA. LARC at UC Irvine stands for The Learning and Academic Resource Center, and it is the most popular student service on campus. Meeting once or twice a week, the tutoring costs $60 per class per quarter, and Lambda Lambda feels that if individuals are failing to achieve their grades, then this is the least we can do for them, in their journey to achieve a better GPA.
